A concise look

Matching the current accessories trend which can be seen in shoes, bags and belts, there are now three new OWP ladies models.

International Eyewear Design Contest 2012

OWP held their first ever design contest in 2012. At the beginning of October the winners were chosen from the many entries which came from 27 countries. The eminent jury members included renowned designer Nils Holger Moormann and Stefan Dongus, publisher of Eyewear Magazine. Choosing the winners was by no means an easy task, as all entries were noteworthy.

OWP congratulates all the winners.

First place went to the “Ball-in-Socket Hinge“ concept by Coerte Voorhees from the USA. The glasses are characterised by a sporty aesthetic and new hinge design with a ball in socket hinge which enables them to be light and secure. The frame can withstand the impact of a ball and can also be easily taken apart and put back together. The winner can look forward to a cash prize of 2,000 euros or an internship in the design department of OWP.

2nd place

The second prize of 1,000 euros went to Zohar Azuz from Israel with his “Bling“ concept. The designer views glasses as masks which express the personality of the individual and as a form of self identification without words. They emphasise the person wearing them whilst, at the same time, offering protection.

3rd place

Third place of 500 euros went to the “One” concept nby Le NTP from the Netherlands. This offered a more sustainable alternative to standard plastics as the main material namely natural fibre reinforced plastics (NFK), a material which is already being used in the automobile industry and other areas.

Styles 1373, 1374, 2132

Whether stripes or check, floral or paisley, prints can be seen everywhere at the moment and are very popular this season on bags, shoes, clothing and furniture. The more unusual the better!

The three new OWP ladies styles pick up on this trend in different ways: geometric forms in exciting contrasts, wild pattern mixes in bright colours or only as a simple highlight – the taste and style of the wearer decides!

The all-over prints on the side pieces are combined with fashionable frames in acetate or stainless steel resulting in a truly individual and sensational look.

Metropolitan has won the 2011 Red Dot Award for product design.

Red Dot, one of the most renowned international product competitions, has awarded the 2011 Red Dot seal of quality to Metropolitan by OWP.
Designers and companies from 60 countries entered 4,433 products in the product design category for this year's Red Dot award. Over 1,000 guests in the design industry, society and media celebrated the winners of this prestigious award.

Dr. Peter Zec, the initiator of the Red Dot design award, says of this honor: "As always, our jury cast a very careful eye over the products submitted. Design quality has asserted itself clearly in the judging process, with genuine and new creative solutions also being rewarded. Both of these criteria are not just yardsticks for good design, but also for the potential for success on the market. This potential is increased several times over by the targeted use of our renowned design award."

Our Metropolitan collection evokes urban design with cool, lightweight steel and sleek plastic. Influenced by modern architecture, Metropolitan frames are the new companions for the city spaces in which we live. As the pulse of time beats ever faster, the Metropolitan collection introduces our exclusive Quick Lock technology (patent pending). This new feature allows one-click glazing: elegant yet simple.

OWP is always looking for ways to reinvent the world in which we live -- this is what motivates us. Metropolitan was created for those who live life to the fullest; who do not need to ask what is beautiful, what is right, or what is high quality: they just know it.
